ASTROLOGY OVERVIEW FOR AUGUST 2025

Hello and welcome to August 2025!

Well by August 1st we have had the July 24 New Moon in Leo. Fierce and fearless, this lunar event delivered a triple dose of fire, serving as the fuel for your long-term plans. What do you see yourself building in the next two years? Going even further… What dreams do you see yourself fulfilling in the next decade? Leo’s strong-willed nature ensures you don’t forget the goals and intentions you set now, and Mercury retrograde gives you wiggle room to change whatever needs adjustment at the futuristic August 9 Full Moon in Aquarius.

FOUR planetary bodies are retrograde now, including Mercury, which went retrograde on July 17 (-August 11), asking us to review the many changes we’ve experienced in the first half of 2025. In more ways than one, August feels like having one step in the past and one step in the future, trying to maintain a sense of comfort in a state of limbo. With the planet of the past (Saturn) in sextile with the planet of the future (Uranus), the planets offer the possibility to unite tradition with inventiveness, helping all zodiac signs adapt to the changing times.

Relationships of all kinds are under focus this season as the cosmic lovers, Venus and Mars, clash with each other on July 23 and other planets between July 30 and August 9. If certain situations boil over to feel like a pressure cooker, hang in there, as celestial help is on the way starting August 6. Between now and August 19, a Grand Water Trine is formed as a total of six planetary bodies activate in Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces. Besides promising a deeper sense of compassion and understanding, this sweet and karmic configuration brings some of the most romantic days of the year. The yearly conjunction between Venus and Jupiter in Cancer, active between August 6 and August 17, is ideal for finding closeness within a personal bond.

Now we can see how specific dates will affect you.

(FYI: The term “sextiles” is used a lot below. It means the planets are 60° apart, they are working together but there may be obstacles involved).

August 9thFull Moon in Aquarius, awakening us to the need for others or to answer to humanitarian impulses. This lunation reminds us of our needs for friendship, community, as well as impartiality and objectivity. We cannot lose sight of our larger goals and our need to give back to the community or group that supports us. Because this lunation occurs around the same time Mars in Libra opposes Saturn and Neptune in Aries, it can be hard to rise to challenges now. Our energy is stop-and-go, and we can feel depleted until we not only find inspiration but have a plan to work toward our goals. But this Full Moon also occurs with Venus coming into a conjunction with Jupiter, offering us much promise and hope. A desire to enjoy ourselves or grow our relationships can be motivators now. Our need for love and affection runs high.

August 11th - Mercury turns direct after several weeks of retrograde motion in the sign of Leo. This retrograde cycle began on July 18th midway through the sign of Leo. It’s a time for reviewing our creative or recreational pursuits. Information has been sporadic and sometimes confusing. Mercury turns direct on August 11th, and information unclogs. Mercury will emerge from its post-retrograde shadow on August 25th.

August 11th Saturn forms a sextile with Uranus, a time when we’re more likely to be doing what we enjoy and enjoying what we’re doing. Events occurring now build character, and life lessons are digestible. It’s a period of solid, meaningful progress. The changes we make can have long-lasting benefits. Original ideas may now take form or develop quite successfully.

On August 23rd - New Moon in Virgo, prompting a fresh start or clean slate. This lunation prompts us to begin anew and promises us opportunities to take charge of our lives by organizing, editing, refining work, and paying better attention to health. It’s a fertile and productive time. But we’re also experiencing a long-term period with great potential for raising consciousness as Pluto forms a sextile with Saturn-Neptune, which in turn forms a sextile with Uranus. This New Moon is in challenging aspect (opposition) to this powerful configuration, which can jolt us back into the need to attend to our work and a routine.

On August 23rd - Uranus forms a sextile with Neptune, and this is the first of five in this set (as with many outer-planet transits, this aspect repeats multiple times over the course of many months). We’re seeking (and finding) illumination; growing spiritually and increasing our spiritual frequency. It’s a time of more openness to alternative ways of living, believing, and expression. We’re receptive to different or unusual experiences and ideas.

At the same time, we’re averse to any form of force-feeding spirituality or belief systems, preferring our freedom to follow our intuition. It’s a time to reform and update how we express compassion, care for the underprivileged, pursue our dreams, seek escapes, and do art and creativity. However, we can also be more sensitive to stimulants.

So what is the best way to handle this month's energy? As always, do more breathwork and meditation, be in nature more, take walks, meditate, read, cook, --- make your energy, state of being and calmness your absolutely top priorities. That is not only the best thing you can do for yourself, but also you will be of the greatest service for humanity. Take care of yourself and let me hear from you.

MANY BLESSINGS, JULIE REEVES, https://sightedastrology.com
